Organic – What’s the Difference?

Biotech versus Organic
If you ask most people what’s so great about organic fruits and vegetables, they’ll tell you that they are healthier, more nutritious, and better for the environment.
Next, ask them how they know that.
The producers of this video did just that, and the results are very comical – almost like asking the average High School Senior to list off her State and National Representatives.

Also, the International Food Information Council (IFIC) has even more information on this topic on their website at http://www.ific.org
550 Tons of Uranium from Iraq
July 7, 2008
Wait, I thought Iraq wasn’t working on WMD? That’s what I keep seeing in the press. That’s the whole basis for the “Bush Lied” campaign, right?
So, if that’s the case, then how could it possibly be the case that 550 metric tons of Yellow cake arrived in Canada from Iraq yesterday?
The Canadians are going to use the yellowcake to power nuclear reactors.
The Associated Press (link: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gUzCIe4JyTofL4u4RnaUn-75BV2QD91NRH480) claims that the yellowcake was from before the 1991 invasion of Iraq, and that it was being kept safe by the UN. Yeah, right. We all know Saddam kicked the UN out of Iraq in 1998. How do we know what he was going to do with it?
Perhaps he hadn’t turned it into a dirty bomb or sold it to a terrorist YET. But how do we know he wouldn’t have? What was the purpose of him holding on to it?
At the very least, it’s obvious he wanted everyone to know he had it and that he could use it for something nasty at some point. At the very least he held on to this stuff to use it for diplomatic purposes (read extortion).
Dictators don’t have to actually USE something in order to get what they want. They just have to possess it and use it as leverage to get concessions. Look at what N. Korea does. Same thing.
If this had happened in the first six months of the war, then perhaps all this “Bush Lied” crap could have been avoided. Would have been nice if the administration had put a lead foot down on the effort to extract as much of this stuff as publicly as possible from Iraq so as to avoid the inevitable political blowback that has occured.
Environmentalists Need to Sit Down and Shut Up
June 24, 2008
Last night Glenn Beck had one of my favorite people on his show – Ben Stein. Now, if you don’t know Ben Stein’s background, you can get a quick overview on Wiki here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Stein
This guy is brilliant, and he’s conservative and he’s right about almost everything. Almost.
So, when he was on Glenn Beck’s show, I had to watch. He made some interesting points.
The one that I found to be most compelling was how environmentalism is causing more human suffering than the environmental problems they are supposedly attempting to resolve.
Now, I don’t want to go off on a rant here, but I want to point out some of the high points of what he had to say.
- The drive to mandate the use of Ethanol in our fuel stream is causing grain prices to skyrocket. Here in the United States, it means we pay more for food. In places like Africa it means that people starve to death. Betcha feel pretty good about your Flex-Fuel vehicle now, don’t you?
- It is impossible to have an honest discussion of climate change. Scientists and politicians are unable to give honest assessments of the situation because the media and leftist environmental groups would demagogue them. IOW it would be professional suicide. So, despite their private skepticisms, they publicly tow the line.
- Environmentalists are Anti-American – oh, they’ll deny it, but the fact is that most people in the Environmental movement want to diminish the influence of the United States and put corporations out of business, while at the same time they hang posters of Che Guerva (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Che_Guevara). These people are communists, and they are promoting a system of government that causes more human suffering, more environmental disasters than any other. They don’t really care about solving the “problem”, they care more about tearing down our country.
- True conservative politicians don’t really exist anymore. Instead we have government by the special interests, and for the special interests. Don’t believe me, go back and look at #1 again. Why do we use Ethanol in our gas tanks instead of batteries or hydrogen? The answer is simple: the farm lobby.
Here’s the good news. According to this article in Yahoo News: http://biz.yahoo.com/nytimes/080623/1194787839974.html?.v=1 traditional newspaper ad revenues are falling – down approximately 10% year over year for the last two years.
Why is that good news? Because as these large, consolidated newspapers fail one-by-one, the opportunities for opposing points of view will become greater and greater. We need it – the web is the Great Democracy, and the truth needs to come out even if the liberal press doesn’t like it.

Then you should go to the source. The Onion is a satirical left-wing look at the news and politics with fake stories and commentary appearing daily.
But not all the stories are political. Like the story about a giant Caterpillar that escapes and rampages through the city (Escaped Caterpillar On Rampage Through City link: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/escaped_caterpillar_on_rampage)
